3. COMPETITION CHARACTERISTICS
The Bike Marathon is a globally-recognised cross-country mountain bike race (race code C1 Int. XCM, listed under No. 28 in the FCI 2025 International and National Race Calendar). The Marathon comprises three different types of routes. The general organiser is Garda Service S.r.l., the technical organiser is Trentino Cycling Team 23 ASD. Only mountain bikes are allowed and helmets must be worn at all times during the race.
The use of electric or pedal-assisted bicycles, as well as tandems, is strictly prohibited.
4. ROUTES
Three routes have been mapped out for the competition: the Ronda Extrema (82.77 km / 3,434 hm), Ronda Grande (59.56 km / 2,406 hm), and Ronda Piccola (30.67 km / 1,065 hm). Participants must choose a route when registering. It is not possible to change route during the race.
The competition takes place partially on public and private roads. Participants are required to respect the rules of the Italian Highway Code, under penalty of disqualification. It is compulsory to carry a valid form of ID throughout the competition.
5. PARTICIPATION
The Bike Marathon is open to all athletes of either sex and FCI or Consulta member organisations, members of foreign national cycling federations, and cycling tourists / amateurs. The minimum age for the Ronda Extrema is 19 (nineteen) years. The minimum age for the Ronda Grande is 17 (seventeen) years. The minimum age for the Ronda Piccola is 15 (fifteen) years. In the FCI competition categories, juniors may only take part in the Ronda Grande and elite athletes only in the Ronda Extrema. Amateur riders can choose between Ronda Extrema, Ronda Grande and Ronda Piccola. Athletes born in or after 2010 cannot register for the Bike Marathon, they can alternatively take part in the Junior Trophy.
Entries are not accepted from participants disqualified for doping in the past or during the competition registration window.
Cyclists who have not properly registered will face expulsion and will not be permitted to join the groups. If an incident occurs, it will be reported according to the law. Participation in the Bike Marathon is only possible as an individual starter.
6. REGISTRATION
Registrations are open until 23:59 pm on 2 May 2025, or until all places are taken. On-site registration is possible, if there are still places available, on Thursday 1st and Friday, 2nd of May 2025. Participants in one of the licence categories have to register until Thursday 1st of May.
To complete online registration, individuals must adhere to the official General Bike Festival Riva del Garda Regulations on the website. This involves filling out the online registration form and submitting the required details, including: first name, surname, address, nationality, date of birth, gender, e-mail address, company name, membership number, organisation, company code if FCI, UCI code, type of membership, and choice of route.
Registration will only be complete once payment has been made and received by the organisation within 10 days from the date of registration. Various payment options are available, e.g. credit card or Klarna.
In addition to registering online via Datasport, FCI members must subsequently also register via “Fattore K” (http://fci.ksport.kgroup.eu/Fci/) through the sports club to which they belong. The race ID will be made available as soon as it is published by the FCI. Please note: entries made only via the “Fattore K” are not valid. Entries are accepted until the maximum number of participants has been reached.
7. PARTICIPATION FEE
All elite athletes with a licence registered with Italian teams are exempt from paying the registration fee. The participation fee includes a personalised number, refreshments on route and at the finish line as well as the race kit. 8. CANCELLATION
Should an entrant be unable to participate, the registration will NOT remain valid for the next edition and the registration fee paid will NOT be refunded by the organisation. Any route changes 30,67 km / 59,56 km / 82,77 km must be communicated by e-mail by 2 May 2024.
9. LICENCE CHECK AND DISTRIBUTION OF BIB NUMBERS
Race numbers can be collected in the Race Accreditation Office on Viale Rovereto, Riva del Garda near Hotel Luise on Thursday, 1st of May between 11:00 am until 06:00 pm, Friday, 2nd of May between 10am and 7pm and on Saturday, 3th of May between 6am and 7am.
Card checks and bib/start number collections for elite and U23 men/women athletes will take place on Friday, 2nd of May 2024 between 12pm and 6pm.
Race numbers may be collected in person and on presentation of an original ID document (passport, identity card, or riders licence). For card-carrying members, presentation of the FCI/UCI/Consulta federal card is required. Other forms of ID document are not accepted.

Non-cash prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category without prize money.
Participants who are eligible for prize money will receive an email after the race and will need to provide the organiser with their bank details.
13. CUT-OFF TIME
The following checkpoints are scheduled at the following times:
At 15km - 10:30am, valid for Ronda Extrema and Ronda Grande
At 32km - 11:30am, valid for Ronda Extrema
At 54km - 12:15pm, valid for Ronda Extrema
The checkpoint times might be adjusted by the judgment of the Race Director for safety considerations.
14. RESULTS AND AWARD CEREMONY
The official award ceremony will take place on Saturday, 3rd of May on the main Bike Festival Riva del Garda stage.
Prizes will be awarded on stage to the top three competitors in the following men and women overall categories:
• Ronda Extrema (Lizenz, Hobby)
• Ronda Grande (Lizenz, Hobby, U-19)
• Ronda Piccola (Hobby, U-17)
15. MEDICAL ASSISTANCE
Medical assistance includes the presence of ambulances, doctors, medical personnel, mountain rescue and helicopter support in accordance with the federal technical regulations.
16. OBJECTIONS
Any objections must be received by the jury within the statutory deadlines accompanied by the fee stipulated in the UCI and FCI regulations.
17. EVENT CANCELLATION
The organising committee reserves the right to make changes to the regulations, route, and race profile. The event will take place in all weather conditions that do not jeopardise the health and safety of participants, and may be interrupted at the organiser's discretion. If, for reasons of force majeure, the event should not take place, the participation fee will neither be refunded nor transferred to the following year, without prejudice to the possible application of special regulations if and where applicable. All details about this will be published online or on site during the competition.
18. CHANGES
The organisation reserves the right to make changes to these regulations at any time. The website (https://www.bikefestivalriva.com/en) is the event’s official information source, as stipulated in the general regulations for Bike Festival Riva del Garda. As such, all official announcements will be posted on the website.
19. SPECIFIC RIGHTS AND OBLIGATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS
• Visibly attach the number and transponder provided by the organisation to your handlebars and back under penalty of disqualification
• Do not change or alter your bib number in any way
• Wearing an approved safety helmet is compulsory throughout the competition
• Follow the highway code when cycling on the road
• Hand in your bib number at the checkpoint if you surpass the cut-off time • Carry a puncture repair kit with you during the race
• Carry an ID document with you during the race
• Bring spare clothing and a jacket in case of bad weather
• Slower competitors must immediately give way to those that are overtaking
• Approach sections with low visibility with caution
• Stop and repair damage at visible points off the race track
• Participants leaving the race must inform the organisation and hand in their bib number to the officials on the route
• Lane changing is no longer permitted in the finish area
• Violation of these rules will result in disqualification
20. DISQUALIFICATIONS
Engaging in actions such as using another participant’s bib number, transferring bib numbers to other participants, starting in an earlier grid than assigned, or any other significant misconduct identified by the organisers will lead to immediate exclusion from the event. Additionally, individuals may face exclusion from the rankings and disqualification from participating in the event for a period ranging from two to five years. The above measures are adopted by the organisation. We appeal to participants’ sense of civic duty not to throw litter along the route, but to place it in the appropriate bins at the refreshment points. Competitors who throw items of any kind outside of the designated areas will be disqualified. It is strictly forbidden, under penalty of disqualification or exclusion, to use bicycles equipped with any kind of support, electric and/or electronic aids, pedal assistance or tandems.
21. LIABILITY
Participants join the Bike Marathon at their own risk. By registering (including through third parties), competitors relinquish all claims, including those from third parties, against the General Organiser, Technical Organiser, and all individuals, whether natural or legal, associated with other organisations involved in the event. Additionally, by registering, participants declare that they are sufficiently trained to handle the physical demands of the event.
22. REGULATIONS
For any issues not addressed in these regulations, the UCI regulations and the 2025 IMPLEMENTING RULES FOR INTERNATIONAL/NATIONAL/REGIONAL MOUNTAINBIKE ACTIVITIES of the FEDERAZIONE CICLISTICA ITALIANA will be applicable.
23. CONSENT
By submitting the registration form, competitors declare that they:
• possess a competitive medical certificate in accordance with the Ministerial Decree of 18/02/82, under penalty of disqualification. The organisation accepts no liability in the event of any accident or illness
• have a valid membership card, if registered with an Italian Cycling Federation or Council Body
• have read these regulations and the general Bike Festival regulations
24. DATA PROTECTION
By submitting the online registration form, competitors declare that they have carefully read and unconditionally accept these regulations and the general Bike Festival Riva del Garda regulations.
In relation to the information referred to in Article 13 of EU Regulation 679/2016, participants are required to acknowledge that they have read the information notice provided on the official website. They must also confirm their awareness of the mandatory nature of consenting to the processing of their personal data for the specified purposes outlined in the information notice. This acknowledgment is made by selecting the appropriate checkbox on the registration form. Participants should be aware that failure to consent to the data processing, as per the information notice, will render it impossible to proceed with the registration for the respective event. By consenting to the processing of their personal data, competitors expressly authorise the processing of their personal data in accordance with the general regulations.

Pursuant to Article 4 of EU Regulation 679/2016, processing “means any operation or set of operations which is performed on personal data or on sets of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction”.
Regarding result lists and rankings, as well as the publication of photos, videos, audio, and/or video recordings, the club will use athletes' images for both internal and external purposes (including various publications, sports films, online platforms, and the official website). 25. DOPING
Upon completion of the online registration form, competitors, in conjunction with their team representative, affirm the absence of any sporting, civil, and/or criminal sanctions, including past convictions, related to doping offences. They also declare that they have not used, and are not using, substances listed on the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) or NADA anti-doping list – accessible at https://www.wada-ama.org/en/what-we-do/the-prohibited-list
False certification will be prosecuted per the law.
If a positive result arises from anti-doping tests conducted during the Bike Marathon or other sporting events, or if conclusive positive results, sanctions, or suspensions are issued by anti-doping authorities or civil and criminal courts within the 15 months following the event, the competitor is obligated to pay the Company €50,000 (fifty thousand euros) as compensation for the significant damage inflicted upon its reputation. If the individual belongs to a sports association, the latter will be jointly and severally liable to pay this penalty.
26. FURTHER INFORMATION
For the international categories, five “Feed Zones” will be set up for technical and mechanical assistance, to which only Team Managers and staff with the appropriate identification devices will have access. The GPS points of the aforementioned Feed Zones will be provided during the technical meeting preceding the event, the details of which will be published on the official Bike Festival website.
